W.V. TV Personality Dies

A local television personality known as "Snoop" in the "Circle 6 Ranch" show has died.

Ray Brooks died Sunday of an undisclosed cause at a hospital in Roanoke, Va. He was 77.

The Bluefield native played a sheriff in the program known locally as the "Snoop and Scoop" show. His co-star, O.C. Young, played a newspaperman. Young died in the mid-1980s at the age of 65.

The "Snoop and Scoop" show aired daily on WHIS-TV from 1956 to 1975.

Brooks went to work for WHIS-radio in 1953 and in 1956 joined the television station now known as WVVA, working as a cameraman, production manager and operations manager. He retired in 1995.
