A packed auditorium at James Madison University heard a very special performance Friday night.

The National Capital Band of the Salvation Army was there to perform musical selections, some of them with the JMU Brass Band.

The group played everything from swing music to more spiritual pieces.

Capt. Gregory Shannon, Salvation Army, says, "The response about the National Cap Band with the public has been very positive. They are very surprised to hear volunteers who come together from such a wide range of geographical locations and they are a professional band."
