Several localities are holding celebrations for the Fourth of July this weekend.
In Winchester, events are taking place Friday with the pool opening at noon. A DJ will playing there until 9 p.m. There will also be food, music and inflatable play areas. A fireworks display is scheduled for 9:20 p.m. Friday. For more information, call 540-662-4946.
The Stanley Homecoming Festival runs through Saturday with a parade at 6 p.m. with the newly crowned Miss Virginia. There is a carnival, live music and games Friday and Saturday. Fireworks will take place around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 540-778-3454.
In Harrisonburg, the Valley's Fourth includes all day events such as reading the Declaration of Independence, concerts, historical tours of the people of Harrisonburg, and arts and crafts Saturday. There will be a fireworks display at full dark at Court Square. For more information, call 540-432-8922.
Staunton's events kick off at 7:30 a.m. Saturday with a 5K run. A parade will take place in Gypsy Hill Park at 10 a.m. and various other events will also take place throughout the day. A fireworks display will take place at 10 p.m. For more information, call 540-332-3971.
The Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton is also holding its traditional celebration starting at 11 a.m. This event does not include fireworks, but it is a free event open to the public. For more information, call 540-332-7850.
In Luray, events include childrens activities and music, most of which will take place in the afternoon. Fireworks are scheduled to take place at dusk over the Greenway. For more information, call 540-743-7700.
Petersburg High School in Grant County will be hosting events all day Saturday including parachute jumps, free concerts and a fireworks display at 9:45 p.m. For more information, call 304-257-9266.
Up in Stephens City, events kick off at the Sherando Park Soccer Fields at 4 p.m. There will be music and other events followed by a fireworks display at dusk. For more information, call 540-665-5600.
In New Market, events will be at the New Market Community Park. They kick of at 7 a.m. with a yard sale and will include concerts, a dunking booth and a parade. At 9 p.m. Emma Hyland Rowley will sing the National Anthem with a fireworks display to follow. For more information, call 540-740-3212.
Middletown kicks off its celebrations Saturday at the farmers market. There will be a parade at 4 p.m. and activities are taking place all day. Fireworks will be at Middletown Park at 9:45 p.m. For more information, call 540-869-1829.
Over in Hardy County, the Moorefield Lions Club is hosting celebrations at the Moorefield Town Park Saturday. All day events include games, music and sports tournaments. Fireworks will go off around 9:30 p.m. For more information, call 304-530-6142.
Sugar Grove Naval Base kicks off its celebrations with a parade at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. There will also be music, an egg drop and a talent show. For more information, call 304-249-6366.
The Franklin Fire Department in Pendleton County is holding its annual Fireman's Carnival and Fireworks July 11 at the Firemans Carnival Grounds. There will be events including a parade. For more information, call 304-358-3402.
Waynesboro will be holding its 30th annual Summer Extravaganza at Ridgeview Park July 11 and 12 and the city's fireworks display is scheduled for 9:45 p.m July 12. Events will be taking place all day including a race, arts and crafts, and music. For more information, call 540-942-6735.
