Music Hall Deal Falls Through

It's back to square one for Live Nation after a deal to sell the Capitol Music Hall apparently fell through.

Wheeling dentist Dr. Manny Veleze and Jim and Theresa Childers of Bellaire, Ohio, signed an agreement on July 31 to buy the Capitol. Real estate agent Carl Nix says the agreement was to expire at midnight Wednesday if the deal wasn't closed.

Nix told The Intelligencer of Wheeling Wednesday that he hadn't seen anything from the partners, and he assumes they're not going to close on the deal.

The newspaper says the partners didn't return telephone messages.

Mayor Nick Sparachane says Wheeling officials will meet within the next two weeks to discuss whether the city should acquire the Capitol.

Live Nation closed the Capitol in May after the Wheeling Fire Department found 23 fire code violations during a February inspection.
