The Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce announced on Monday that it will no longer be a co-host and manager of the “Daylily and Wine Festival” held annually in Fishersville, Virginia.
Instead, the chamber plans to explore a new vision for a different type of event with a local as well as an “international” flavor.
The new event is tentatively scheduled for Friday, Sept. 21 through Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012.
Those dates will replace the Fortune/Williams Musical Festival at the Frontier Culture Museum, which was held for the ninth and final time this year.
The new festival will feature locally produced beverages, particularly Virginia wines, micro brews and spirits with an international flare, and is will include musical activities both Friday and Saturday evenings.
The Daylily and Wine Festival will continue to be run by the Viette family on their property in Fishersville in July.
The Chamber says it think the community "will be well served by having two unique events" according to a release and says it will encourage community members to attend both events.
