Cave owners from across the nation are in Virginia this week to discuss the challenges and successes of operating the natural attractions.
About 150 people are attending the National Caves Association's
annual conference at Luray Caverns in Luray.
Some members of the International Show Cave Association also are at the gathering, which included a visit to Grand Caverns in Grottoes.
National association President Eric Evans tells The Daily News-Record that the show cave industry faces economic challenges.
Families stay close to home and make their own fun when gas prices are high and money is short.
But Evans says people will always be interested in visiting unique natural attractions like caves.
