New Website Celebrates Film Shot in WV City

The West Virginia Film Office has a Website celebrating its most anticipated film of the summer.

The Paramount Pictures film "Super 8" was shot in Weirton last fall. It opens nationwide Friday.

Film Office director Pam Haynes says the site features behind-the-scenes pictures of Weirton's transformation, and interviews with crew members and community leaders.

"Super 8" is set in a small town in the summer of 1979. Some young friends witness a train wreck and begin to suspect it was no accident. Disappearances and strange events soon follow.

The movie was directed by J.J. Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg.

It stars Elle Fanning, Kyle Chandler and Ron Eldard. Many West Virginians worked on the crew or as extras in the film.
