Owner to Close Va Race Park Opposed by Neighbors

A race park in Greenville that drew opposition from neighbors is closing.

Valley Extreme Race Park LLC owner Terry Argenbright has
surrendered a permit for the facility that he received in 2009.

The News Leader (http://bit.ly/v1MHSz) reports that Argenbright
notified the Augusta County Board of Zoning Appeals of his decision
in a letter earlier this month. He cited personal reasons and the
state of the economy.

The board had planned to act on revoking the permit at its Dec.
1 meeting. The newspaper says the race park had fallen into
disrepair, in part because of an illness in Argenbright's family.

Neighbors of the race park claimed noise from motocross racing
would be excessive.
