County planners have awarded a permit to Busch Gardens for a new ride that will replace the Big Bad Wolf roller coaster.
The Daily Press reports that the James City County Planning Commission approved the special-use permit Wednesday. The ride will be located in the theme park's Germany section.
The permit grants a waiver from a zoning height limit of 60 feet. Busch Gardens said in its application that the ride will have a 26,000 square foot building that will extend about 80 feet above the existing grade. It also will have a themed bridge extending 95 feet above the grade.
Larry Giles with Busch Gardens told the commission the ride should be quieter than the Big Bad Wolf was.
The Big Bad Wolf closed in 2009.
