Movie production crews are working hard to put the Valley on Hollywood's map by establishing a Central Shenandoah branch of the Virginia Production Alliance.

The area has already played host to big movies like "Evan Almighty."

Organizers of the alliance say establishing a branch in the Valley, could make it easier for many local producers and filmmakers to coordinate efforts and refine their skills.

One member, Bill Funk, says there's potential in this area.

He adds, "I think shooting any kind of film that requires an agrarian background or a natural setting, people are going to look to western Virginia as being the place to do that kind of thing."

Organizers had a preliminary meeting Thursday.

They say things will really get going the first week of May at the inaugural meeting.

So far about a dozen people have signed up.
