Snowshoe Mountain is postponing the opening of ski season because of heavy rainfall.

The Pocahontas County resort had planned to open the season for
skiing and snowboarding Thursday. But the resort said Wednesday
that the opening has been postponed because the county has received 2.5 inches of rainfall in the last two days.

A new opening day will be announced when weather conditions allow.

The state's other resorts plan to open their ski seasons next month.

Timberline Resort's opening is scheduled Dec. 8, followed by
Winterplace and Canaan Valley on Dec. 9 and Oglebay Resort in
mid-December.
