WV Town Planning a Party for "Super8" Premiere

The West Virginia town that had a role in the new Paramount Pictures film "Super8" is going to celebrate the premiere with a party.

For nearly two months last fall, Weirton and other parts of Brooke and Hancock counties were transformed into the fictional town of Lillian. The movie will be released nationwide June 10.

Weirton is planning a celebration June 5.

Planning committee chairman Fred Marsh says it's free and open to everyone.

It will start with a Main Street parade featuring 1970s-era vehicles and children on bicycles, a nod to a promotional scene for the movie.

The Weirton Daily Times says organizers have invited Bill "Chilly Billy" Cardille, host of "Chiller Theater."

The Saturday night TV show featured horror and sci-fi films from 1963 to 1983.
