Brenda Wright has been teaching Spanish at Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro for three years.

Her student Liam McNamara says Wright is an amazing teacher.

"I've learned so much in Spanish," says McNamara. "I wasn't the best in Spanish, but I've learned a lot this year, so she's a great teacher"

Her student Lawrence Sinclair agrees with Liam. He says this is his third year learning Spanish, but his first time "really" learning.

He says, "She's taught me a lot in this one year."

Wright says, "I just feel like I've found a niche here with these guys. I love them. They're like my own sons"

She's a mother-like figure to the boarding students and she's involved in their sports games and weekend field trips.

Sinclair states, "She laughs with us. We'll tell her stories and she'll laugh with us. She'll tell us stories and laugh with us. But, that's after we're done with our work."

Wright enjoys being involved in her students' lives. She even has a Facebook page just so she can communicate with her students and give them extra credit on-line.

She likes to have fun in her class with creative ways to learn Spanish. She draws pictures and her students will describe the scene in Spanish.

Sinclair says, "She's very funny. She likes to have fun and she understands that we want to have fun sometimes, and she lets us."
