Virginia residents can turn in expired or unused prescription drugs at more than 150 locations statewide during the commonwealth's third Drug Take-Back Day.
The drugs will be collected Saturday at sheriff's departments, local and state police offices and other locations.
More than 9,500 pounds of prescription drugs were turned in at a
similar event in April.
Virginia's event is part of the National Take-Back Day sponsored
by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
The goal is to prevent drug abuse and to keep disposed drugs out of surface and groundwater.
