Help For Migraines

If you're one of 28 million Americans who suffer from migraine headaches and drugs don't help, a new surgical approach may provide relief.

Most experts believe migraines are caused by swelling blood vessels.

But a plastic surgeon in Cleveland, Ohio, puts the blame on tight muscles in the forehead, temple, and base of the skull that are pinching nerves.

When he removed those muscles and nerves, according to a study in the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 92 percent of the patients reported the frequency and intensity of their migraines dropped by half.

In 35 percent, the surgery eliminated migraines completely.

Among the temporary side effects - drooping eyelids and intense scalp itching.
