We are officially on allergy alert!

Page Memorial's Dr. Jeffrey Feit says allergy season is in full bloom.

According to Pollen.com, much of the Commonwealth, including the Shenandoah Valley, is experiencing medium to high levels of allergens this week, with Friday becoming high.

Oak, mulberry and sycamore pollens are predominant right now in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, while oak, birch and maple are giving peoples' sinuses fits in Staunton, Augusta County and Waynesboro.

Speaking of Waynesboro, Drs. Melissa Hostetter and Robert Fern with Waynesboro Pediatrics say children are dealing with the seasonal allergies as well, which is causing asthma. They are also seeing a bit of the stomach flu.
