Veterans Affairs investigators say many Iraq war veterans with traumatic brain injuries aren't getting proper health care.
The report also finds such troops lack the help they need to find jobs. The VA inspector general's report is the first to examine the Bush administration's long-term efforts in supporting veterans with traumatic brain injury.
The study tracked a sample group of patients in 2004, and found at least eight of 49 veterans reported having "significant unmet needs." Problems ranged from primary or specialty health care to housing.
But more than half the veterans reported getting adequate counseling and support for their behavioral or emotional issues. About 18 of those with brain injuries, however, admitted anger was "a problem" for them.
