In this week's What's Going Around, it's a term you haven't heard in months but the season for it is just around the corner: Influenza.

Fran Welton, with Grant Memorial in Petersburg, West Virginia, says health departments and physician offices are receiving the flu vaccine. She says it's never too early to contact your health care provider to receive the dates for fall flu clinics in your area.

Flu season begins in November and runs through march.

Dr. Jeffrey Feit, with Page Memorial, is treating a couple of cases of infectious diarrhea. Feit says one turned out to be salmonella.

Meanwhile, Dr. Robert Fern, with Waynesboro Pediatrics, is seeing some patients with asthma exacerbations and fall allergies. He is also dealing with stomach flu and a few cases of strep throat since school began.
