A patient who has been held in seclusion for 15 years at Western State Hospital could soon be leaving the facility.

The State Commissioner of Mental Health announced Wednesday that he supports the recommendations of a state oversight committee.

Those recommendations include working to transfer the patient, Cesar Chumil, to another hospital in Northern Virginia.

Western State Officials have said they kept Chumil in confinement for the safety of the other patients, because he has a history of violence.
