Flu season is just around the corner and flu shots are now being offered at health districts around the Valley. In Staunton, residents were taking advantage of short lines to get their shot.
A number of people got sick from the flu last year, because the shot doesn't protect against every single strain of the virus.
However, health director Dr. Doug Larsen says new ingredients were added to this year's flu vaccine.
He explains, "This year, they've changed all three of the ingredients because of the things that they've seen in the countries that start the flu season and then we know we're going to get those next. So, basically they think they're on target this year."
The Central Shenandoah Health District is holding walk-in flu clinics on October 3 and October 8 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The shot costs $25.
