Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling will announce a fitness and nutrition challenge to get Virginians active and reduce the risk of heart disease on Tuesday at the James Center YMCA in Richmond.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in America for both men and women and nearly 20,000 Virginians die every year from heart related illness. However, healthier living, regular exercise and an improved diet can reduce the risk of heart and cardiovascular disease by up to 82 percent.

Bolling will be joined by representatives from the American Heart Association, YMCA of Greater Richmond and other leading health care organizations to outline the fitness challenge and heart health public information campaign.

Richmond area resident Jim Morris will also discuss how he lost more than 300 pounds starting with simple activities like vacuuming and walking to mailbox. Bolling will also set a personal weight loss goal.
