Food is the center of many holiday gatherings, but unless you select low-fat fruits and vegetables, you might be at risk for over-indulging.
It's hard to resist pressure from family and friends trying to load you down with extra helpings.
Registered Dietician Ellie Krieger says you may want to sit down with relatives and tell them you don't want to overeat, "Just say I love you, I love your food, I'm just going to have a little this holiday because I'm trying to do this for my body, to be healthier."
She also says there's no need to deprive yourself of a holiday treat or specialty item, but eat just a little. She suggests using a small plate and a tall thin glass to make it look like you're getting a bigger helping of food.
