West Virginia Sen. Jay Rockefeller joined fellow Democrats in supporting the Senate Finance Committee's health care overhaul proposal.

West Virginia's junior senator originally said he could not support the measure, but he said Tuesday he decided to vote yes so the process could move forward.

The committee endorsed the bill on a vote of 14-9, with Maine Republican Sen. Olympia Snow as the lone GOP member to support the measure.

Rockefeller said he is not happy with the committee's bill, adding it still falls short of what is needed.

He said he would continue to work to make changes when the proposal comes before the full Senate.
