President Barack Obama has declared the H1N1 flu outbreak a national emergency.

On Saturday, the White House said Obama signed a proclamation that would allow medical officials to bypass certain federal requirements.

Officials described the move as similar to a declaration ahead of a hurricane making landfall.

H1N1, also known as the swine flu, is more widespread now than it's ever been and has resulted in more than 1,000 U.S. deaths so far.

Health authorities say almost 100 children have died from the flu and 46 states now have widespread flu activity.

The White House said Obama signed the declaration Friday evening.

boy oh boy, I'd love to see how Bush would've handled this one. Oh yeah, I know how. He'd take another vacation to clear out brush on his ranch. He's got alot of brush. At least Obama is actually in the white house doing something more than clearing brush and starting wars to put this nation in debt.

Keep your sick kids home until your dr. says they can go back. Don't take them to ball games, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. Keep them HOME!!!! All you nurses and health professionals, change out of your germ infested scrubs when you leave hospitals and dr. offices. Quit wearing them to public places where you can spread the germs you've collected all day at work. I work in a restaurant. I see nurses in scrubs come in to eat after they get off of work. I see parents bring in their sick childen to eat after dr. appointments or being picked up from school from being sick. Covered in germs, they come into a public place where many others are eating just to spread it to more people. This is how it spreads so easily. Sence is not common.

I wonder if his children are attending school daily. Perhaps not? He may exclude them just as he has excluded himself from participating in the proposed health care plan... Wake up America!
