The state Supreme Court has sided with a lower court judge in an ongoing case involving the treatment of people with mental illness.
The court decided without comment to deny motions filed by the state Department of Health and Human Resources to block orders made this summer by Kanawha County Circuit Judge Duke Bloom.
Bloom ordered changes to how the state does case management for behavioral health, along with changes to the oversight of mental health care and the treatment of people with traumatic brain injury.
DHHR argues that Bloom's orders overstep his authority.
A call to the attorney general's office, which is handling DHHR's case, was not immediately returned Monday.
