The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department is treating the death of a 58-year-old woman as the state's sixth from the H1N1 flu virus.
The agency said Sunday the woman that the woman died of complications of influenza on Halloween at a Kanawha County hospital. Her name was not released, but the health department says she was a Kanawha County resident.
While the agency says it hasn't been confirmed that the woman had the H1N1 virus, she tested positive for influenza and regional data shows 99 percent of people who test positive for influenza have H1N1.
The death is the first from H1N1 flu in Kanawha County and sixth in the state.
