Lohr Introduces Drug Abuse Prevention Bill

A bill being proposed by Del. Matt Lohr, from Harrisonburg, is moving forward in the Virginia House of Delegates.

The bill requires a person to show a photo ID to pick up certain prescriptions such as morphine, oxycodone and methadone.

The bill was suggested by the Harrisonburg Police Department to try to prevent prescription drug abuse and fraud.

It passed committee Tuesday morning.

I lost a friend to drugs and alcohol about 3 years ago, simply because no one was there to help, or lend a hand. If you know someone thats losing this fight, give support, give help!

Will this decision negatively affect home-bound patients that require these pharmaceutical agents for pain control? Your reporting did not clarify.

Page Co drug stores and dr offices only let the named person pick up either one other counties need to follow!!They have been doing this for a couple of yrs, it may be hard on the patient but it is better for the community.
