A familiar sight has returned to the Capitol, as abortion foes and supporters of abortion rights are facing off over a contentious piece of legislation.
A public hearing in the House of Delegates drew 29 speakers Friday, with abortion rights supporters outnumbering opponents by about 2 to 1.
The bill, which has already passed the Senate, would require doctors to offer women seeking abortions the chance to view ultrasound images of the fetus under certain circumstances.
Supporters of the measure say it simply provides women the opportunity for more information. Opponents say it's an attempt to intimidate abortion providers.
The bill is currently before the House Health and Human Resources Committee.
