HARRISONBURG -- As part of the American Cancer Society's 100th birthday celebration, some of its staff made a little noise on Wednesday.

On the corner of Neff Avenue and Reservoir Street, people passing by may have heard screaming. That's from community managers with the American Cancer Society's Harrisonburg chapter. Drivers also honked as they drove by to show support for the cause.

It was a part of the ACS' campaign, "Moment against Silence to End Cancer."

"Well we've got our sunscreen on and it is hot, but it's something that we really want to do this so that people know that we know that we are committed to finishing the fight and making this cancer's last century," said ACS Community Manager Carrie Klamut.

Right now, the American Cancer Society is making noise on Twitter using #FinishTheFight. Celebrities like Ellen Degeneres joined the social media campaign.
