Liberty Gets $12M Grant for Health Sciences School

Liberty University is getting $12 million from the Virginia Tobacco Commission for a new health sciences school.

Media outlets report that the commission approved the funding Thursday during a meeting in Abingdon.

Liberty will match the funding.

Construction of a 105,000-square foot health sciences center is expected to begin soon.

Liberty officials say region is medically underserved and the university wants to meet that need.
