A Powhatan County animal control officer says a skunk has tested positive for rabies and several raccoons may be infected.
Animal Control Sgt. Christine Boczar said Wednesday that the skunk was found in the southeastern part of the county. The disease can't be confirmed in the raccoons because they weren't tested.
Boczar says residents should report any human or domesticated animal bitten or scratched by a suspected rabid animal to Powhatan Animal Control or the Powhatan Sheriff's Office.
