AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) -- The United Way of Greater Augusta is celebrating its 10th anniversary of a merger between Waynesboro-East Augusta United Way and Staunton-West Augusta United Way on Thursday.
The group has helped countless organizations across Augusta County, Staunton and Waynesboro.
One of those is the Staunton Creative Community Fund, an organization dedicated to helping entrepreneurs. The United Way has partnered with the fund for about a year now.
The United Way has been a big help in growing the Community Fund's Virginia Individual Development Accounts, VIDA, which helps Virginians in business or educational pursuits.
"We are loving working with the United Way, and we plan to continue working with them throughout and we would love to grow the VIDA program and they're integral in helping us fund that," said Courtney Cranor, the director of business development of the community fund.
This last year, the United Way of Greater Augusta raised $900,000 and at the anniversary celebration declared a new goal of $ 1million for the campaign that started Thursday.
