VaTech to Offer Flu, Other Vaccines

Virginia Tech is offering a public walk-in clinic offering vaccines for seasonal influenza and other illnesses.

School health officials say the Oct. 4 clinic at the McComas Hall Gym is open to all adults and children at least 6 months old.

The flu vaccine will be available in injection and nasal mist.

Vaccines also will be available for measles-mumps-rubella (MMR),
polio, hepatitis B, tetanus-diphtheria, tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis, and meningitis.

School officials say there's a separate charge for each vaccine.

Influenza is a highly contagious respiratory disease that can be
transmitted even before symptoms appear.

Medical providers recommend people in certain high-risk groups get vaccinated annually.
