Lawyer says First Penn State Abuse Claim Settled

Harrisburg, PA A man who was sexually abused by former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky is the first to settle a civil claim against the University according to his attorney.

This involved victim 5 who testified at Sandusky's trial last year. Reports say he settled for several million dollars. Tom Kline the attorney confirms the deal in an email but did not give any other details.

This is the first of 26 settlements expected among 31 young men who pressed claims about the actions of Sandusky. A spokesman for the University declined comment on the deal saying they continue to make progress on multiple settlements. Last year the University hoped to compensate the victims after Sandusky was convicted of 45 criminal charges.

Sandusky is serving 30 to 60 years in a state penitentiary for child molestation and related charges.
