Shenandoah County deputies say a Ford Explorer was stolen from the parking lot at the Church of the Valley in Strasburg August 11. However, they say the thief left her other car behind, so they used that to identify her.
The next day, police found the suspect and the stolen Explorer in Delaware. Sondra Jones, from McGaheysville, is accused of stealing the SUV in Strasburg. She was brought back to Shenandoah County to face charges.
Deputies in Shenandoah County also say they are still looking for a stolen antique bicycle. A Schwinn Cruiser that is at least 40 years old was taken from Garber Road in Mount Jackson earlier this month. It is worth $250.
A resident at a mobile home park in Augusta County reports that someone stole two fiddles, a guitar and some cash from the home last week. The home is located on Maine Circle, just east of Staunton. The total property loss is $5,300.
Harrisonburg Police say a monument to a Civil War leader was vandalized Sunday night. They say someone put stickers on a site marker at the Turner Ashby monument.
Staunton Police arrested someone over the weekend for allegedly growing marijuana. Police say Jovon Keys had nine marijuana plants in a shed on Baldwin Drive, along with seeds and Miracle Grow.
