IIt's shaping up to be quite a battleground all right -- not only Virginia, but right here in the Shenandoah Valley.
In Harrisonburg Sunday, local voters gathered for a "Victory '04" organizing convention. The program is training thousands of Democrats across the state in field activities, voter registration, and basically how to get Kerry-Edwards elected.
Though the state, especially the Valley, has been traditionally Republican, organizers are hoping to take advantage of a ground swelling of Democratic support.
Eric Payne, the "Victory '04" Campaign Director for Virginia, notes, "It's an area that has not been a Democratic stronghold. And there's so much interest that we're trying to do what we can to really build the party and build our capacity to talk to voters."
Democrats want to convince voters that Kerry-Edwardshas the best message for Virginia.
