Authorities now say they've recovered the body of a Valley man who drowned in the rain swollen Shenandoah River. Twenty-two-year-old Nathan Ballentine, of Front Royal, was pulled from the water over the weekend after disappearing Thursday night. Rescuers found Ballentine's body Saturday afternoon on a sandbar near Tarra Road in Shenandoah Farms.
Ballentine reportedly entered the river Thursday night about three and a half miles away, just down from the Morgan's Ford Bridge. Officials say he was trying to recover a drifting paddle boat, but was taken away by the swift current caused by leftover rains from Hurricane Frances.
