A Valley city is being honored for its green thumb.

Staunton's Horticulture Dept. has won a 2004 "Keep Virginia Beautiful" award.

The giant flowerpots and watering can on display along Greenville Ave. were submitted for consideration in the municipal horticulture category of the Landscape Excellence Awards Program.

A release on the city's Web site says the display was selected over several other cities from across Virginia. The award will be presented at a luncheon in Richmond next month.
