The Augusta County Fire and Rescue was called out for a car that crashed into a dentist's office Thursday afternoon.
The crash occurred at around 1:30 p.m. on Stoneridge Drive.
The driver, 86-year-old Mary Toms, accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake when parking in front of the building.
Most of her Buick was through the wall of the dentist's waiting room.
However, because the dentist is on vacation, there was no one in the room at the time of the crash.
"Luckily, our doctor was gone on vacation, so there was no patients in the front office, we weren't cleaning in the front office, nothing like that at that time, so we were just really lucky," says Serrena Becerra, who works for the dentist.
Three people were inside the building, but none were injured. Toms was also not injured.
"I heard the acceleration, like somebody had hit the gas instead of the brake, obviously," says Danny Crouch, who works in the office above the dentist. "It caught my attention, then I felt the building shake, and I immediately ran down, because I knew it hit right underneath me, and I know her, and I don't know who else is in there."
Becerra was in the office right next to the waiting room.
Firefighters on scene had to construct heavy braces against the front wall before the car could be removed.
The damage to the building was estimated at a minimum of $15,000.

I agree with Chris and while we are talking about safety it's way past time to make it illegal to talk on cell phones while driving!!!
Stop being so judgmental. We've also heard news stories about 30 somethings and teenagers driving into buildings. I personally know a few people who have accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake before. To comment that it's because of her age is just being critical and mean. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
This is the second time this week that and elderly person has driven a car into a building causing major damage. I'm not trying to be mean but there comes a time when it is in the best interest of saftey to others that they give up their drivers license.
