Many Valley residents who decided not to fight the Labor Day weekend traffic are having some holiday fun a little closer to home.

The annual Staunton Jams kicked off Saturday afternoon. The main strip of downtown Beverley Street was been blocked off and the sidewalks were full of people enjoying the holiday weekend entertainment and activities.

"Well we're usually out of town for Labor Day, so we always miss Staunton Jams, so today we're excited we could make it, and it's such a beautiful day, so we decided to come out," says Staunton resident Beth McDorman.

Staunton Jams was a free event sponsored by the Staunton Downtown Development Association.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
