An early morning shooting sent two men to the hospital and leaves a neighborhood searching for answers.

Neighbors say they heard several gunshots about 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

Neighbors say they saw a group of people gathered on the sidewalk outside of an abandoned house on Kelley Street in Harrisonburg.

Residents say they heard anywhere from eight to ten gunshots and say it was a drive-by shooting, but police have not yet verified that information.

"We are investigating it as a shooting right now, and as far as who was where and whether they were in vehicles or not, that some information we're still working to obtain and verify," says Harrisonburg Police Department spokesperson Mary-Hope Vass.

Police say a 30-year-old man from Richmond was shot in the arm and a 32-year-old man from Harrisonburg was shot in the torso and taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center where he is in stable condition.

Police have not identified suspects in this case. They are encouraging anyone with information to call Crime Solvers at 540-574-5050.
