Town Center Update

It may seem like the town center in Waynesboro will never be completed, but builders say the shopping complex is very close to completion.

Just this week, a new light was added to Route 340 to help with traffic the city and VDOT predict will be coming.

While construction continues around the flagship Target store, the new lights will help with an overflow of construction and motorist vehicles.

VDOT regional operation director, Dean Gustafson, says in time, they'll be able to do a study to see exactly how traffic is affected by the new lights.

He says, "It's a little early because the development hasn't opened up quite yet and they're still doing some construction but as the development opens up that's certainly something that we will monitor and work with the City of Waynesboro to make sure traffic is moving through the Route 340 corridor as efficiently as possible."
