Virginia and West Virginia are getting more than $11 million in federal funding to help cope with the housing crisis.

Virginia is getting $6.2 million and West Virginia is getting $5 million.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced the grants Wednesday. The agency says the grant will allow local governments to buy, redevelop or demolish foreclosed properties.

HUD says the Commonwealth gets $5 million of Virginia's total, while Richmond receives $1.25 million.

The agency awarded additional funds to other states for the same purpose.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
