The Valley Augusta County deputies are trying to figure out who stole $1,575 worth of beer, cigarettes and condoms from a convenience store.

Augusta County deputies are trying to figure out who stole $1,575 worth of beer, cigarettes and condoms from a convenience store. The items were taken from Junction Convenience on Parkersburg Turnpike in Swoope early Sunday morning. The stolen items include five different brands of cigarettes, some cigars, several 12-packs of beer and several condoms.
Staunton Police are investigating a suspicious fire at a home on Oakenwold Street, across from the Staunton library. Police say they found a burning mattress on a porch late Tuesday night. The house was not damaged.
Rockingham County deputies report that someone shattered a school bus windshield with a rock near Massanutten Mountain. The damage was discovered on Buelah Road Saturday.
Harrisonburg police are again seeing a trend of items being stolen from cars. They had eight reports of thefts from vehicles in the past week.
The thefts occurred on Country Club Road, Statton Street, Community Street, Chestnut Drive, Port Republic Road, Virginia Avenue and two cases on South Dogwood Drive. The stolen items include electronics, money and tail lights.
Deputies in Shenandoah County are investigating the theft of an antique record player. It is called a Victrola, and the one that was stolen was made in the 1920s. It is worth $500. Deputies say the Victrola was stolen from a garage on Ridgeley Road in Maurertown late last month.
Shenandoah County deputies have arrested Arturo C. Herrera for allegedly causing a traffic crash, then fleeing the scene. Herrera is charged with felony hit-and-run, after deputies say he rear ended a car in New Market Saturday. No one was injured in the crash. Herrera is an undocumented immigrant.
