A pre-prep meeting was held Thursday afternoon at the Augusta County Government Center. Local fire and police departments, along with the Red Cross and school officials all joined in. They discussed everything from opening shelters to making sure everyone is equipped with the necessary supplies.
"I think that if it would have rained another inch or two that evening, we would have had some more extensive damage. But the rain quit and receded back," says John McGhee.
Officials are also asking residents in the low lying areas to keep essentials like water and canned goods handy.
