Car Crash Claims Life of Bridgewater Woman

An early morning crash has claimed the life of a woman from Bridgewater.

According to the Virginia State Police, 26-year-old Nicole Alison Foster was driving westbound along Spring Creek Road around 4 a.m on Monday when her 1993 Mazda Miata left the road, went up an embankment, through a fence and overturned in a ditch.

Investigators say Foster was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. She was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The accident was not visible from the road and it was only discovered after a passerby around sunrise close to 5 hours after the crash occurred.

Both VSP and Rockingham County say alcohol does appear to be a contributing factor. Investigators say it was also raining at the time of the crash.
