Waynesboro Keeps Growing

Residents who live in the Woodlyn Court area of Waynesboro, which is right across the where the movie theatre and grocery store would be built, aren't too pleased. They just don't think the city's pick the right spot.

"There are already sites that are zoned commercial; why can't they just put them there?" says Phyliis Reitenauer.

Reitenauer moved to Waynesboro from Pennsylvania. She says she's now ready to move back. Reitenauer and some of her neighbors are against the rezoning of almost 40 acres of land behind Wal-Mart.

They're worried about the extra traffic. "It upsets me so much because we went down when Wal-Mart was coming in. And we said traffic would be difficult, and they said ‘Oh we'll put lights in. It'll be perfect,’" says Ruth Steck

But not everyone is against the plans. "I think it would be great idea to have a local movie theatre here for Waynesboro to support," says Claudia Stone.

But a local movie theater just isn't what Phyllis wants.

"If I wanted to live next to 500 things and a busy highway, I would have stayed in a larger city," says Reitenauer.
