City officials view Staunton's economy as a work in progress. But some store owners and tourists say the city is just wasting it's potential.
"Staunton needs to stop rolling up the sidewalks at 5 p.m.," commented Linda Warrington of New Jersey.
Staunton City Manager Bob Stripling agrees with Warrington. "Our stores need to stay open later to insure more visitation to the city."
Stripling tells TV3 that the city is encouraging all of its downtown area stores to stay open longer hours and every weekend.
