A new bypass is in the works for the town of Bridgewater. The bypass is just in the planning stages right now.
But if it gets done, county officials say it could cut down on traffic problems near the town. The bypass would include a four lane, divided highway, and it would take drivers from route 257 around Mount Crawford Avenue to route 42 near Turner Ashby High School.
VDOT officials say they've gone through lots of work to pick the locations
"When we look at projects one of the first things we have to do is, we have to ask to look at location. So we looked at locations, and we looked at a bunch of locations to see how they environmentally impacted," says Don Komara, a residency administrator for VDOT.
The plan would also offer a multi-use trail, and VDOT officials want feedback on this proposal. They are planning to present their findings to the public this December.
