Spanky's is back open for business, but that wasn't the case early Friday. For the first time in the city's history, Treasurer Rebecca Neal had to padlock the doors.
Even though it was her job, Neal didn't like having to close the restaurant to customers. "It's very sad. I am from Harrisonburg and was in high school when this place opened.
It's been a great place for years. I hoping they can regroup reorganize reopen and flourish," Rebecca Neal, City of Harrisonburg Treasurer.
The restaurant owed roughly $2,500 in meal tax. They paid the debt in cash about a half an hour after the restaurant was closed.
